I also ran power from the fuse box ( with an inline fuse ) not hard , you also need illumination for the switch , it's only early mk5's where you will have problems as they have no holes to mount the motor. I found that if the handle surround is small , separate to the sun visor mounts , you will need to change the whole roof mechanism , but if the handle surround & visor mounts are 1 piece the mounting holes will be there.
