if you did a "new install" then its probably formatted the original partition before starting afresh. if you done a repair then the original stuff is still their.

and if its the first option chance of getting anything back is zilch as it will have physically written over the original data

i sent a hard drive away to a recovery firm a few years back cost well over a grand but that had only been formatted and not written on again so was ok to get the stuff back
