You screw it into the caliper first and tighten it. You then fit the other end into the mounting bracket and secure it with a nut. Then you screw the swivel fitting on the steel brake pipe to the pipe and tighten. Finally, bleed all the air out.

A lot of standard rubber flexi hoses have no swivel ends either, not just on Fords..
