As mentioned before, this escort is going to be much lighter than when it left the factory, whilst still retaining the comforts of the interior as much as possible.
I baught this perspex rear screen off ebay for a tenner:





It was advertized as a screen to fit mk3/4 escorts, but when i attempted to fit it, it, well, wouldnt!!
It appeared t be too big, and when i measured the old screen and compared the new one, it was 20mm too big. It had definately been in a car before as it was covered in stickers, so maybe the mk4 escorts have bigger rear screens?
Anyway, i took 20mm off the edges and it fitted a treat after that! The weight saving over the rear screen is substantial, so much so that i only need to use one gas strut to support the tailgate!
