Trouble is .. we never shielded the charge warning wiring properly on the older cars .. but do now on Focus/C-Max and 2006 Galaxy
Stick it too near a turbo manifold .. and as Martin says, it gets knackered quickly.
Aren't the wiring looms made by Delphi these days?

Not very well compared to some either!! Transit rear door central locking looms spring to mind, and glow plug wiring, starter and alternator wiring on the front wheel drive sheds (and the starters that fill with water as they are right at the front with no sheilding).
