that is the voltage regulator playing up in the alternator, get it fixed under warrenty, the car will eventually cut out due to low voltage to the ecu, i have asked a guy at work ( he is the warrenty guy for alternators and starters) and he said that this is a rare thing to happen but will be covered under warrenty , just take the car back and get a new alternator fitted
