Some coilovers will fit straight onto the mk3/4 escort without need to modify anything at all.
However it is advisable to at least strengthen the top mounts at the turrets.
With a specailly modified top hat, the GAZ kits will fit with full height adjustment, and a slightly smaller diameter spring.
I can do this kit at the same price as the others, with the top hat.
The minimum requirement for the suspension to work properly is a rear strut brace/ brace bar.
The ideal requirement would be to Turret the rears (seam weld or at least re-strengthen).
