Basically manufacturing in general has been in decline for years in this country. Having worked in the aerospace game for 8 years I have seen so much manufacture moved to the far east and china etc obviously this also applies to automotive and every other sector of manufacturing.

All very sad, soon we will be a service country as the only thing that generates hard cash for a country is manufacturing (i.e making things and selling them to other countries) and if we don’t do that all we have is north sea oil to generate cash, as we know that won’t last for ever.
