yes its mac address.

ntl uses mac levl security, so if you plug it into a differnt device it doesnt recognise it.

plut it into your laptop, reset your set top box/modem (pull the plug out n put it back in) and then reboot the laptop

now when you try n get on the net youll get an NTL registration page
