got the shaft out now

How much play if any should be in the front diff ? i know there is gonna be some because the shaft is out but even if you put pressure on that side of it there is still play there!

is it advisable to put the circlip back in ?

sorry for all the dumb questions but i feel a bit out of my deapth on a 4x4, i'm used to fwd...
