Shhhh

I am curious to see what will happen if I try to play a CD through a drive that does not have an audio cable connected to the drive and mobo.... Or if I rip a CD to the HDD on a drive that doesn't have an audio cable connected to the drive and mobo...

I can't understand how my other Dell manages this without an audio cable hooked in - does it do it down the IDE cable or something?
