A standard brake setup on the sapphire is garbage round the ring and lasted less than 1 lap and had me doing the other 20 using the gearbox as a brake
The Ring is not thought of as brake devastating track. So probably you engine is just too quick for the brakes
It is when you dont know it, i fried a set of brakes within 3 mins on my first ever lap
