I remember reading somewhere that you shouldn't put any paint where the wheel nuts meet the rim to make sure they don't undo themselves when driving.

Not sure how much of it is true, it kinda makes sense, but I would have thought the paint would peel off quite quickly when the nuts are done/undone.
