No can be a good buy if purchased cheap, insurance wont pay out much, but should be around what you payed for it if you got it at the correct price.

Keep in mind that if say it was stolen and recovered and the owner refused to have it back, the insurance company may have paid him out and so the car is a total loss, not often but does happen.

As said if it is a cat d then light damage or s/r a cat C would heavier damage and then B should be scrapped as it would have been heavy damage.
