put in a new fan switch(the one that screws into the themo housing)a new switch(the one that plugs onto the fan switch)when i ran the car,the fan did'nt come in when it reached the certain temp when i bridge the 2 pins with one wire the fan works i changed the switch because it did this to the last one thinking it was the fan themo switch which had packed up it fell apart when i took it off!is the themo stat gone as this can only nbe the last port of call-i'm a little worried as the weather is warm and i don't want to do damage to the engine at the moment i'm having the fan running while the engine is on to keep the temp down-any one who can advise would be most grateful!!!!!

 

just buy a thermostat only cost a couple of quid.

 

Could be a faulty relay or that you've lost a feed to it.

 

i've brought a themo i just need to put it in (i've never done it before)but god-forbid if it is'nt that what fuse would i need to find and where is it and for the feed where and how do i check it out!

 

Whats ur car, an s1 or s2??? not sure if theres much differnce but i'll find out all i can about the wiring. I'm sure that if you bridge the two wires out on the temprature sensor this should bring in the fan via the relay, you should here a clicking noise somewhere(relay), if thats working then you need to check your feed to the relay so to make sure that theres power there.. like i said i'll try and find out whats what 2morrow n let you know mate...

 

put in a new themo and that SORTED IT the fan cuts in when it should but please tell about all the wireing as nobody has given me a detailed instructions of how to do a fan-overide switch which works along side the fan and gives me the option of turning it on if i need to!!!!
