Will a stage 3 head work with a rebuilt standard botttom end rs turbo engine?
Hi there I have an escort cab that is currently in a garage at the moment, I have been having problems with the rebuild of my mfi rs turbo engine.
I bought a stage 3 head a while back which had been polished and ported bigger valves etc to put on my engine once the bottom end was rebuilt.
The work on this head cost the owner about 500, I got it for 220 which I was going to fit to my engine.
This I thought would save me doh rather than refurbing my standard head.
I purchased a fully rebuilt bottom end engine yesterday for 280 which had been re-bored, new pistons, rings, shells etc with a receipt for 500 which saved me doh rather than getting my original engine worked on which is on the car in the garage.
The dilemma I have now is the garage has said that the head I bought will not work with the standard bottom end, he said that I would need to get lower compression pistons for the head to work.
Can you fit a stage 3 head to a fully reconditioned bottom end with the standard pistons and use a high performance head gasket?.
I don't want to fork out extra doh buying low compression pistons if the head will work.
Any information on this would be appreciated as the bill to get this cab on the road after 5 years restoring it is turning into a nightmare.....

Cheers for the info... been at the garage today and sortd a few things over the weekend with the engine, purchased a multi layer steel gasket for it which should work with the engine build and the head.
