weight. zetec se VS zetec-e
hi, just wondering about the weight diiference between the alloy zetec-se 1.7 block compared to the cast 2.0 zetec-e one.
the reason i ask is the i want to put the 2.0 silvertop in a puma (which usually has the se engine in) and would it upset thhe handling much??
thanks, alex

Yes it would. I have two -99 stw mk1 Foci, one with the 2,0 engine (cast iron) and the other is the 1.6 all aluminum Zetedc-SE Yamaha engine. First of all, the external size difference is very noticable, with the SE being much more compact. Secondly, the steering response is very different, with the lighter feeling much more like a go-kart and the 2.0 more like a Volvo.
If you ain't going to turbocharge it, just use a Duratec-HE instead.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Zetec-SE is around 80kg I think.
Zetec-E is 120kg or so.
Quite a difference, playing around with spring rates would help. Duratec is just as light as the Zetec-SE so would be my choice. Quite cheap to buy too now.
