Default really need forged pistons?

Hi

I have a erst s2 mfi, and its time to rebuild my engine, but i want to know if i really need forged pistons?

the spec will be :

-full mongoose exhaust
-standard cam
-standard head
-turbo T3 or hybrid T3
-actuator -31
- ahmed bayjoo chip
-big frount mount intercooler
-magnecor leads

to this spec i need forged pistons?
what is the standard compression ratio on a cvh 1.6 turbo?

Standard pistons will be fine with that spec. My choice would be Mahle. Matt Lewis off here can do you a good deal on them. Supplied mine.

I believe standard CR is 8.2.1

Cheers.

Depends what power you're looking to get really mate?? I ran standard rods/pistons at 245bhp on a 1.6 for a couple of years but i've just built a new engine with steel rods/forged pistons for more power and peace of mind. Standard c/r is 8.2:1 or there abouts, depending on how many times the head's been skimmed etc.

will be fine for tht power level mate, dont be tempted to buy an expensive headgasket either, just use a new genuine ford one, it will be fine!
