Spent the day den the unit today, got a few bits done
First up was to remove old cambelt and pulleys so as to finish painting the head..
Painted and new Verniers fitted..
New belt and tensioner fitted..
New rocker gasket and half moons..
New cam cover
Block breather fitted..
Then i got the reflect-a-gold heat shielding done in the engine bay, need to get a bit more, Sod's law I only need about 4" squared to complete!!
The I removed subframe, rack, coilovers etc as need the subframe powder coated and have decided to buy a re manufactured steering rack.
Found the n/s compression strut cracked
Anyone know where I can buy new track control arms and compression struts? or are these a custom part to this car? I'm still learning lol..
Last but not least, painted the exhaust manifold and turbo elbow..

Little update...
Picked up bits from powder coaters today..
Also had all the nuts and bolts I removed from the engine zinc coated..
Wasted no time in getting them fitted..
Subframe fitted with new engine mounts..
Header tank..
Power steering tank..
Then started getting the engine back together
Just new sump, thermostat housing and engine arms to go on to complete, picking them up from vapour blasting tomoz hopefully.
Last but not least, I have decided to go a different route with the turbo..
Garrett gtx3071 twin scroll, .63 exhaust housing and a 44mm tial external gate..
That's all for now

Bastard! Where did you get that turbo?
#103
You and me both
Depends where you get it done mate, this little lot cost me Ł30, I cleaned them all up on bench grinder first though. Some places are alot dearer though, my last project for example, a guy charged me Ł200 for all the nuts and bolts I removed, although I didn't clean them up.
Haha, that's nice ain't it!
Turbo and gate came from full race in the states.

Very small update..
Last bit of reflect a gold, got more than needed in case I decide to do turret next to turbo..
Also had re manufactured steering rack turn up..
Collected front hubs from Powdercoaters..
And a front wheel bearing kit from graham Goode..
Got them all together, realised they'd sent me the wrong bearings, pulled my back, now on the sofa in a lot of pain indoors.
A bad day had by me

Yours is the grey series2 right? Yb powered?
Front legs and main hoop feet look to be floating, should be on platforms at least and window bar is a. Wonky and b. 4" from the roof. Not a dig at the car at all mate so please don't take it personally because as said its a cool car!! Just concerned for your safety.

The feet are bolted in but as the inside have a step in the floor pan, decided against bolting it in for now because I didn't want to bend the floor trying to get it right as the plan is to have a new one welded in.
tbh ive been waiting for someone to actually spot it and you are the first (well, that's actually said to me lol)

I feel kinda bad now lol.
It's only half bolted in on the floors, it's only half on the shelf as it were. Definitely won't save you should the unexpected happen. A weld in cage is what you need as its a custom car, no bolt in will look right. Will stiffen it right up also!!
I have an eye for this sort of thing, sorry for noticing haha.
