Thanks sy its not quiet finished just paint the door etc your have to pop round ,how's the job you missing the ford scene yet , I'm taking the Saxon to the ex cel classic car show in jan if you fancy meeting up , I'm hoping to get the red Lotus done soon I think Simon want to do a feature on it .
That garage is far more extravagant than I imagined when I was at your house and you were telling me about it. You played it down!
I'm due a visit up your way to say hello. Actually really enjoying the BMW job and still doing work for Classic Ford and Performance Ford, so keeping my toe in the scene. I've still got my Cortina, locked up safely in garage and looking a little sorry for itself now, but plans are afoot.
And yes, you know your red Lotus was always guaranteed a feature. I hear it has an interesting history...

Stunning job on that, looks amazing! Great to have saved a true classic!!
Bet the stripe was a bugger to get right?!
Funny, I only thought of this thread the other week, we had new neighbours, got chatting, he said he knew a guy restoring one... Assumed it was this one, can't be two being restored in Essex at the same time?!

What an awesome story and resto, should be very proud of what you have done to the car, glad it's in such good hands!
Love the red one as well, very period! Missed the unveiling at CF, hopefully see the cars at Ford Fair?

The cam cover is meant to be a light blue hammer finish but I didn't want that finish so used a very close colour to what it would have had. After going through loads of colour chips I used a Peugeot colour

The stripe wasn't to bad apart from where it bends at the back end of the car.Other than that,no problem

Had a few teething problems with the car which is expected. The gearbox I had rebuilt jumped out of 4th gear which is common with these.
One of the front legs I had refurbed leaked. The diff was a bit noisey.
Out came the diff/gearbox and o/s front leg and have all been rebuilt again.
The car was unveiled at Santa Pod for Classic Ford Show. Then back to Santa Pod for Ford Fest then on the Classic Ford Stand at Silverstone.
Ive just got the diff/gearbox and diff back in it.The car will be going to The Nec Classic car show as I was invited to take the car on to
the Lotus Cortina Registers stand.Should be a laugh as theres a few of us staying up there for 4 days.
A few pics before Silverstone
Had the car on a rolling road.
Standard these cars are 105bhp.
This engine has a big valve head Ian Walker race cams Tony Law manifold and 2 1/4inch exhaust ect ect.
131.6bhp I was happy with that.
A couple of Ford Fest pics
A few pics of gearbox and diff going back in
Silverstaone
Heres a pic when I first bought the car 2 and a half years ago
