could've designed it like the puma greed bracket but i want to keep it behind the hub so the only new hardware needed is for the caliper carrier. Time will tell anyway...i have another design as a backup.

Different Bolt pattern, sizes, etc etc.

They went with a stub axle inside the brake drum with this fiesta as opposed to the mk6 so the drum fits onto the wheel studs like a disc does on the front. Also locates with two high tensile studs that are fitted to the rear beam.

Ideally if the bracket works fine going to sell it to the other mk7 owners and make their lives easier when they want to swap to rear discs.

*nice alcons on the focus btw only just saw the photo*

really? with the st170 hubs? tell me more.

did you remove the studs that are there?

honestly though they were different.... did it effect track width?

They bolted straight on mate same flange on all fords tbh the track was as good as the same tbh if you want to widen it tho you can use racing puma or sport Ka beam spacers hardest bit about the job was undoing the bolts lol

right so no discount on ap's as they have already developed the kit just finding it hard to sell because it doesnt fit behind standard wheels.

no quote as of yet for the brackets as no one wants to set up for a one off so going to leave that to will whilst he has the car.

in better news car is due to go over to leeds a week tomorrow =D cannot wait!!!! woop!!

so hopefully you will get to see some progress pics.

also mountune said they are releasing the fiesta alcons in red within a few weeks they are just waiting on stock.

freshly arrived, new discs and pads and handbrake cable. In addition ordered braided lines for the new fiesta st from hel (front and rear) so if the budget doesnt yet stretch to alcons i can fit braided all around for a few months with the rear discs...still waiting for delivery of them though.

and a picture from when the car was clean last week....getting its bead on :P

What a cool project. I've often thought about using the eco boost but the direct injection really put me off, what management are you using?

Best of luck with it!

Management system is still in development by one of my technical partners

Goal is to maintain full functionality of the OEM dash, stalks etc. via a modified CAN system as well as keeping everything that makes the Ecoboost engine what it is: Drive by wire, twin variable cam timing and direct injection!

In other news - the old engine is nearly out

Hopefully i'll get the Ecoboost offered up later tonight - the lack of area for a wingstand to rest on isn't helping though

More as it happens

Wing stand is something that goes over the top of the engine bay, rests on the flat section on the top part of the wing (under where the bonnet rests) and allows you to suspend the engine from it. Very useful when doing clutches as it allows you to undo the gearbox mount and still control the engine position.

Would have been really useful on the mock fitment of the Ecoboost but this shape fiesta doesn't have the surface area on the top of the wings to use one.

So i've had to use the engine crane and an assortment of chains and brackets:

So - it does indeed fit width wise.

Got to take the scuttle panel and bonnet off now to allow me to get a bit further in with the crane to establish driveshaft position for the box etc.

Well, came in for a few hours today and made some progress...

First job was to take the bonnet and the scuttle panel off, it wasn't making things any easier positioning the new engine with the crane!

Name: BF457A84-386D-4EB9-B238-1945FA437E08-2794-000001C300469E4A_zpsa7d05871.jpg
Views: 5611
Size: 302.8 KB

Then, with the extra access and a bit of fettling of various mounts etc. this didn't take too long!
Name: 9D624B14-609A-4729-8D17-53AB779454F3-2794-000001C3159D4C65_zps89793428.jpg
Views: 5737
Size: 308.0 KB

Which allowed suitable clearance either side:
Name: 96E74314-CBB9-40E7-B3A6-4B61EEF9BBCF-2794-000001C33A4FFF73_zps1d33c76c.jpg

Size: 515.7 KB

And then, another moment of truth - would the fan assembly go back on?

Name: 2F50DC55-632D-4E47-9220-C8C132637297-2794-000001C36463B3DA_zps337fc86b.jpg

It does sit some 10cm taller than the old engine, but until i've made new engine / gearbox mounts I won't be able to refit the bonnet to check for clearance. So far though, the highest point is around the same level as the brake fluid reservoir so i'm not unduly concerned yet!

Hopefully tomorrow I can get some drawings done for the new mounts and get them away to my machinist!
