i know there are some strong Audi boxes. But i see here he has used the lotus box with an adaptor plate to fit the Audi engine... This would save alit of messing around i guess ..thats why i wondered what power the lotus box takes?

We are using an Uprated PG1 out of a MG ZR160 we also used steel cage bearings, Martin Hadland has been using one in his Audi Powered track car with 340 BHP for a couple of years without any problems. The PG1 is a fair bit lighter than the audi box too.
We did a trackday at Donnington on Monday and the car was was fantastic
i would love one of these and this project makes me want one even more..... How does it drive with the audi lump compared to the original unit? does the chassis take the power well?
cool. Would it be alot more effort to get the Audi box in if more power was wanted? Just shafts and mounts...

If we want to install the audi box we would just need a gearbox mount and drive shafts oh and a gear change mech from an S2 Toyota engined car.
we are happy with the PG1 so unless we kill it we will keep it.
As for how it drives, well if i said it was 100x better than before i think you will get an idea, the chassis will handle a lot more power that we got at the min. We have only limited power at present because the car out performs us on track at the min so no point in extra power yet but the engine is built for 500 BHP if required.
I fought I would update this thread as lots has changed
The engine lasted 4 track days and dropped a valve, Supertech say its due to them being incorrectly fitted.
The damage
It compleatly scrapped the engine, so we had a new engine built but this time we added a strocker kit to take it to 2l and uprated everything.
Added a TSR tubular exhaust manifold and a GTX 2867 turbo and external wastegate
The result was we had to limit the power to 400bhp as anything over that just spun the wheels!! (No lsd)
We did around 20 trackdays I with the car over the summer
