Great prep work so far

After a few busy months at work i haven't had any spare to work on the car but managed to have a couple of hours this week got the rear bumper and one of the sill covers prepped and primed, hope to have a bit more time again so i can get back into it.

Thanks for all the comments, managed to spend a bit more time on the car today, finished stripping the n/s door and got all the old paint off the outside, spent a bit of time re-locking it and the door lock fits perfectly. Sorry forgot my camera and these are iphone pics.







Also took the n/s/r wheelarch trim off to see what the arch and sill are like, wheelarch is good but the rear sill has a hole in so will put a full sill on.





I said i wasn't going to do the underside on this car as i just want a nice usable car but the wheelarchs and floor have been undersealed and i was curious what was underneath so i cleaned some off with thinners and underneath is bright diamond white, result so i can now see a few more hours work cleaning off underseal.







Really want to get on now but with a lot of work to do and 2 small boys and a load of work to do at home just spend what time i can on it, hope to get some more done this week.

Thanks for the comments, i have done a bit more work on the car but not as much as i would have liked, hopefully have all the panels and body kit prepped and primed in the next couple of weeks and then have the glass taken out and concentrate on the shell, will take some more pics this week.

Not spent any time on the car in the last month, after having an up and down year with my business i have had to make a tough decision to close which means having to lay 2 guys off just before christmas which im most gutted about as they are very skillful guys and we got on really well they understand that ive got to do whats best and theyve both found work already and ive not closed yet so there are jobs out there if you look, not only have i lost them and my business but im losing the storage space for my cars and all my parts. Got a lot of the parts home now and need to sort my garage out for the cars, luckily i have quite a big garage at home its just full of random stuff so will have a clean up and get the cars home. Hoping to sort myself out and im having a couple of months off after christmas so will just need a compressor please santa and im going to get on with the car, think it will take my mind off things and i wont be so stressed all the time. Spoke to a mate today who said he will let use his booth to paint the car so all good. Sorry for the long post, had a few and feels good to write it down.

Well after a busy year and half it is about time to start the car again so it was taken out of storage and i took it to work today where my boss is letting me use a corner of the workshop to do the car, was quite strange seeing the car again and has given me the motivation to crack on, the car looks well considering it was stored in half bare metal covered in a barn, some surface rust but nothing serious, also the car looks better than i remember it being so thats a bonus.

Managed to have a couple of hours on the car tonight so cleaned the rust of the o/s wing, used a strip and clean disc and the surface came up really clean, just put a coat of etch on for now but will be primed properly. Small plate to weld in on the bumper mount but not too bad, also decided to take the bonnet struts off so another hole on the top of the wing to weld up, will hopefully get some more done at the weekend.

Nice what strip and clean discs do you use? I have used the green roloc discs before which are good but take ages.

I use the 3m purple scotch brite strip and clean discs but they still take a while, had a bit more time on the car and cleaned up the quarter panel, sill and wheelarch should be delivered tomorrow so i can start cutting the old ones off.
