They look like copies of the Porsche Big Red Brembos

Here is another place that supplies those

Yep I think they're the same, Compbrake are cheaper, but maybe the design911 ones have bleed nipples that don't fall out

Had the car on the dyno at EFI-parts yesterday.
All was going well, got all the low load and transient fuelling set up nicely, running in closed loop fuelling and idle, but as soon as a bit of boost was added it was clear we had some issues with the turbo or boost control. It would be fine for a couple of runs, then the boost would become randomly unstable.
Turns out the compressor wheel is just catching the side of the compressor housing from time to time, so the turbo will be off for a rebuild. Not surprised really as I've never touched it, and its had a fair bit of use at 2.5 bar peak and no dump valve.
Drove it home off boost, and the difference is night and day. So nice and driveable, it actually feels fairly lively and responsive, obviously it's never going to be great as its fairly low comp but compared to the old L8 setup its lovely to drive

I'll give turbo technics a ring in the morning and see what the turn around time is currently. I would like to do tatton park show next weekend as its normally a good show and its nice and local. I may drive it there nice and steady, then send the turbo off after the show.
I've always had an annoying oil leak from the turbo oil drain so it will be an ideal opportunity to get that sorted, It looks like the flange on the turbo side isn't quite flat so maybe that will need machining while its off.

I had similar oil leak for a while, and fixed it by using 2 or 3 gaskets on the drain pipe.

I'll see how it looks when I take it off, if everything looks flat I will probably do the same.

Whilst the turbo is off I've bought a new alternator mount. It's an anembo engineering all in one drop bracket. Nice bit of kit. Much nicer than a regular drop bracket.

It just needed new bearings and a service.
Billet wheel would be nice but I'm not spending loads of money on this turbo. I'd rather spend a bit more and go twin scroll borg warner.

Had the car back on the dyno today. Had a few issues getting the boost control to be stable and repeatable, seems to have a mind of its own at times
This was no fault of the ecu, mapping, or any control electronics, it seems to be a mechanical issue with the way the turbo spools, I'm not exactly sure at the moment but we will carry on investigating.

End result, 545bhp and 490lb/ft

I know this will probably divide opinion and some people will write it off as bullshit, and to be honest I don't care. Chris's dyno is proven thousands of times over to be accurate, and he's had much more powerful vehicles than my knackered old saph on there.
Only one phone pic of the graph for now. Will get some screenshots emailed over.

The car is in a different league to drive. So nice off boost. You can be cruising at 1k rpm at 30 in 5th, and it will pull happily up to whatever speed you get scared and lift off

Cheers guys. Not too much going on at the moment but preparations are underway for the next round of modifications.
Spending quite a bit of time currently building an android app that interfaces with the ECU via usb, and displays all the data on live gauges, data logs, and can make adjustments to the map.

No its not a cr t38 it's the bugger turbo technics unit. The cr turbo won't make anywhere near as much power.
The inlet is standard small turbo.
The engine spec is on the first post. Not much has changed really.

You're an absolute star mate. Obvious dedication and knowledge you picked up on your journey is priceless. A credit to Passion Ford!
I had a 1992 2.0 Sierra GLS from new. Sold it 2 years ago in immaculate condition because of cashflow problems. Always regret it. Carry on the good work mate, Franko99.

Went to Retro Rides Gathering at Shelsley Walsh with Ridgey last Sunday.

Had a good day, didn't have any time to take photos or even clean the car as we left at 6.30 and arrived just in time to sign on for the hill climb.
Had never been to Shelsley walsh before, and it had rained overnight so the track was extremely slippy, especially through the esses. I decided I wanted to drive the car home so I'd take it steady
