i im all for a mini cosworth but it would keep cozmeister happy to sell the cossy shell with documents etc after nicking the running gear and with the money buy a GL or something cheap and use the floor pan from that and sell the rest of the bits as spares. floor pans the same, just means someone can use ur shell as a reshel.

and some comparison as to how wide they are.

chopping a base model would be better seems ashame to cut up a perfectly good rust free cossy there quiet rare nowa days as for differences between shells there is not a lot in it i used a base model for my 4x4 mk2 escort easy to mod keeps kosmeister happy love your plan though keep the updates coming .

just a quick idea on the arch's mate,we used to use 4x steel trailor arch's cut the lip off one side then bend to fit arch then weld side skirts to each side will make it nice and strong'but you will have to throw that fibre glass front end away.....not a bad idea imo............be interesting to see my mate put a full race pinto in his but everytime he tryed to put the power on,it used to go round in circle's lol........good luck...........................

Hello again, I popped into the garage today to drop the wheels off and i took a couple of pictures while i was there....
Its shortened the required length and so hopefully at some stage soon it will start looking like one mini with a cosworth in it rather than two cars as they are at the moment.
Still on the list of things to get are - fuel system & fittings, (thinking areoquip thoughout), brakes calipers to clear the wheels, inlet manifold, intercooler and rad and their fittings, breather set-up (aeroquip fittings again), ..... not to mention all the tedious stuff to sort out like fibreglass doors, perspex, re-wire, headlights, indicators, remap, etc etc
I didnt want to make a list of it all as I dont want to be put off by how much still needs to be done/money to be spent, but hey its the same for anyone with a project!!

i agree with cozmeister. it wont handle, seen it done b4 it was and is shite, also we kinda like cossies here so to some people on here what ur doing is petty much the same as walking into a vet and cutting up a dog,
also y a rusty mini y not match the cossie and get a mint or brand new( you can get them) mini shell its the least u could do for the saph
sorry mate not normally negative but this one just pissed me off, best get it done and do it well for the saph's sake

I must admit it was the guilt of breaking a perfectly good 4x4 Saph that lead me to sell it complete and opt to purchase the parts seperately. There arent that many on the road nowadays and I didnt want to contribute to taking another off the road. That said I sold it to Andrew Gallagher and I believe he chopped it up for his Ford Connect project! Oh well at least I have no blood on my hands!!

mini rs cosworth
hi just red your thread good luck mate seems you pissed a few people off i got all my bits separately so no car got killed in the process.
your doing 4x4 mine is rwd i was told that because of short wheel base 4wd is a hindrance in cornering you may want too look into this as for up the strip 4wd must be help i would think.
your going with 350bhp im gonna start with 280 and see how i get on with that im thinking that sometimes less is more wheel spin maybe a problem with these beasts dont you think.
lovin your work mate keep it up its good to find someone as made as me.

when you need the wheel arches give me a pm as i have got a set of miglia style extra wide arches that might fit in the garage that i had made for my spaceframe mini

Thanks for the words of encouragement all of you. It's taking longer than expected but hey ho!
As for the width, it's standard cosworth width using the same suspension setup (for now) just to get it running. The problem is added by running 9" wide wheels with a negative offset, as I had limited choice.

awesome. . . to the amount of cossys that have been chopped up for floorpans for focus's, rwd escorts and other things. I think one more for someone who wanted to do something different and have something unique you have to give credit for...excellent.
pitty cant have more pics of interior fabrication etc etc
