The only possible restriction would be the CSA of the actual filter element. Other than that, that intake is never going to cause a restriction.
It will act like a ram air effect as the car goes faster, effectively the air will be pressurised to a degree pre turbo.

I do not have any qualifications to suggest that I am right but I guess my concern is that without a wind tunnel and smoke system we do not 100% know what the air is doing over the front of this particular car with all the mods it has had.

There was a post on here about lifting the rear of a bonnet and having Sierra Cos vents on a bonnet but it was sucking out air in the wrong place due to low pressure spots....just a thought????

I love the idea of it and expect I might have something similar once my spec R intercooler is on as I will then have room for it.

If that was the case, how come motor manufacturers have been placing cooling packages in the front of vehicles since the invention of the motorcar. Many race cars use this ram air to good effect as do bikes. The front of a car is an extremely high pressure area. It's perfectly positioned.

It should do exactly what we want,

The thing you mention with the vents is irrelevant to this design as there is no other affecting airflow after the intake to affect its path, just the turbo sucking it all in,

My point about the vents was more to illustrate that we do not know what we do know know, I do appreciate the difference, I was just trying to make an example of what someone did thinking it improved the car but it did not.

Manufacturers cooling packages are wind tunnel tested or road tested and designs do change. A large percentage of manufacturers do not use positive air pressure (ram air) induction systems. I have seen many motorbikes and SOME cars but it is not used in 100% of cases.

I am not trying to argue or run this down, just questioning how we know it will flow enough air.

Dave walker has done a lot of work in recent years and showed how some trumpets and air filters that would have been seen on even early F1 cars have significantly moved a power band or restricted power.

As said, I would like to do this on my car too. I love this Car and have said it many times.

One question that is of interest, would a large amount of ram air actually keep the turbo spinning or are the vanes not in the correct orientation?

My comments are more discussion than anything. I will not comment on the intake any further as I fear my intentions are being mis-understood.

I do not know all the answers regards airflow, only that the very same design has worked well and is still working well on many race cars etc so although it may not be perfect or if picking, it may have flaws (i dont know either way to be fair) it should be fine for what i want and what the car is being used for,

Regards the turbo, yes if you forced air through it with an airline say it will spin the wheel, but the rate it spins on tick over i dont think the rate of airflow will ever affect it

Not a great deal been done lately but have been trying to save money by setting up my race tech dash2 display and get it 100% working as it should with the ecu interface,

It's taken me all week with emails back and forth to Race Technology mainly but also LifeRacing but it is finally all up and running other than calibrating my fuel level sender which i haven't done due to not having enough jerry cans lol

The race tech dash2 display is now fully configured with the can ecu interface to display the following

Rpm range in graph form across whole dash display
Rpm in numerical form
Water temp
Oil temp
Oil pressure
Fuel pressure
Air charge temp
Map sensor reading
Throttle position
Battery voltage
Lambda reading (once i can afford the £375+vat sensor )

With the car turned off the revs show 17 for some reason but fine when running

So all in all well happy with that it has saved me a lot of money by just giving the car to someone else and paying them an hourly rate to go through it all which i reckon probably adds up to around 15 hours ........and it has allowed me to have a little look into the LifeRacing ecu software so i can learn to display and log things on my own laptop at home

The other little thing i want to sort is the crap throttle cable bracket that came with the Hart inlet manifold, it doesn't line up with the linkage and it's too far away meaning the cable adjuster has to be wound all the way out

This is how it is now, you can see how the cable kinks off at an angle and how its wound fully out
Name: 2D88CEB0-12BA-4A44-B633-F1E6746C9420-3761-00000584AA92A656_zpsb90625ed.jpg

Currently the cable angles away from the inlet with this bracketName: FAD0E50C-5D7F-4D88-BA08-1D32B5EA0465_zpsg4tl4i91.jpg

So i want to run it perfectly in line which is angled in slightly towards the inlet

I just think with such a build, over so long the advantages are huge and negate the problem you have now, so it's not even a big job with a capable ecu.

What £40 worth of bits, you would get half of that back selling your cabe an tb.

I know the pressure of living, I've lost all interest in mine again. Can't be arsed with it at all.
Not been near it in 3 weeks.

The wiring would cost more than that lol

Also I'm not sure what I'd do with the 2 pedal sensors? As I'm using a floor mounted pedal box so can't just swap the complete pedal like most do

Simple but effective bracket which once painted will look tidy, material is thicker so doesn't flex even without bracing,

I will machine up 2 small spacers to replace the 2 washers then weld them to the bracket, gives a much nicer full throttle set up without the cable at the throttle body end wanting to kink in half like before

Can you still get Hart inlets new? or is worth just buying an autospecialists one do you think Marc?

Ah that's good to hear.

As for the lambda why don't you just use the NTK sensor

More expensive as it's rated to better specs than standards and can withstand a lot higher temps than normal, along with the deutsch connector and full raychem sleeving and boots it is about the best you can buy as far as a motorsport specced lambda sensor goes
