Little update for you. Ive started looking through the car to see what parts I still have to get and the list is still growing
The interior needs totally redoing due to the dirt and dust from the bodyshop. Im losing the series 1 Recaro's anyway in favor of 90 spec series 2 Recaro's. I have 2 sets of rear 90 spec benches so the plan is to have the orion door cards retrimmed using 1 of these.
I have changed the old gearstick gaiter and made a later gaiter from a mk6 escort fit. I also have a mk6 escort handbrake lever fitted instead of the series 2 lever. Ive been to the dealers and bought new rear shackles and some engine decals. I was surprised they still had them to be honest! The warning sticker was only 46p!!!! They are £3 on fleebay.
I have a couple of questions for you, Anyone know where I can get a new VIN plate and also have it stamped as the old 1 is a little worse for wear.
Also do you think these lights suit the car or do you think the red/smoked lights would be better? I cant make my mind up.
I had this made for the front engine block breather.
Its pointless fitting it because once I bolted the turbo on you couldnt see it
This 1 would suit a zetec N/A engine so ive made another blank which isnt bling but will do the job.
This is the main reason why I kept the 5 door shell instead of a 3 door,
Ive also received the V5 logbook back from DVLA with all the changed declared like the good honest citizen that I am.
1 thing about it was the book came back as a 1796cc GL model when I informed them on a seperate written letter that it was a turbo, 16v etc. I thought it would least come back stating it to be a turbo
The enquiry is complete
The vehicle details for F82 LAN are:
Date of Liability 01 05 2008
Date of First Registration 04 08 1988
Year of Manufacture 1988
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1796CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status SORN Not Due
Vehicle Colour BLUE
Vehicle Type Approval null
The information contained on this page is correct at the time of enquiry.

I tried fords but the bloke in the service parts department said they wanted all the docs for the car which is fine, but he said they would need a crime number and it would take a couple of months to get sorted. I said I wanted a replacement as mine was damaged thats all. He also said the old style VIN plate is no longer available and it would be the newer sticker type VIN plate I would get with all my cars id printed on it.
Ohh and they wanted £45+VAT for the privilege

Well here it is. This has been my project since about january 05.
I bought the car nearly 4 years ago as a 1.4 cvh twin weber carb. Its a 4 door gl model. I know its a 4 door but the shell is mint, as in its never been welded anywhere. Also I have 2 kids so its easier to get the kids in being a 4 door.
Unfortunately I lost the pics of the car when it was completley standard, but I do have lots of pics of it being stripped, parts added etc.
when the car is completed it will have had the following done,
Koni adjustables, rs spec bumpers, and bodykit
sierra cossy rear disc conversion, erst front disc conversion
full efi conversion, rst s1 recaros's, rs s2 rear seats
m3 mirrors with side repeators(originals to be smoothed), twin headlight conversion
delocked and cat 1 alarm and immobiliser fitted, multiTlock fitted,
rs bonnet (possibly might get badboyed), 1800 16valve zetec turbo engine to be fitted (engine originally from a XR3i 130 model)
white dials for clocks and heater controls, on board efi fuel computer
full respray in ford imperial blue, smoked rear lights
full electric pack, full stainless steel exhaust
lowered 40mm, rst lsd gearbox
There is probably loads of bits ive missed so Al add them later, time for some pics
Hope you like the pictures,

Hi mate,
Nice meeting you yesterday. Got the FRST back in one piece. thanks for you help. Took me 4 hours to get back! Just gotta get started with the restoration work now.
Just read your thread from the start. Nice project. Keep the updates coming.
I told you about the problems I had with the ID of mine and I was going to get some new vin plates made up but didnt as the DVLA sorted out the problem in the end.
Both the VIN plates and colour plates work out to be from what I can remember about £80. Give them ago. Perfect replicas of the original ones.

New years resolution is to get her finished this coming year!!!!!!!
SO heres some fresh photos of how she looks as of today.
Forget the wheels, there temporary so she rolls.
Still starts and drives.
Now ditching the twin headlights and going back to standard setup.
Had the wings smoothed for a cleaner look so the plan is to get led lights fitted to the stock mirrors instead as side repeators, something a bit different.
Also going to change the clear lights for smoked s2 type.
Question:
Do I badge her up as a escort zetec turbo, escort GL ( originaly) or not at all???

I know its a bit of an old thread now but..
How do the rear doors cope with the bodykit?
I keep thinking about putting the RS kit on my estate but I'm worried the rear doors will clobber it or I'll have to chop it about.
Got any pics of the back arches so I can see what you did?
