So far ive done half a tank , 144 miles some of them being fun miles so I don't think its too bad for a 4.2 v8 .

Its a great all rounder and im more than happy with it. im going to get a stainless system fitted along with a few other goodies

Looking good! The B7 is my fave of all the A4's

I'd say that's pretty good - mines got half the volume, and a third of the power, and I get about 150-170 miles from half a tank (70L tank)!

You'd think though, being a black edition, they'd have painted the mirrors black too!

Congratz to this nice looking car, but prefer the Cossie engine. The RS4 engine is a faulty design with this weird FSI-technology. Saw a dyno sheet with only 320 Hp (stated power is 420 Hp) The power spread is enormous on these engines. And have fun in cleaning coked valves at regular intervals to raise the power again. The worst case is an engine failure (quite often), but every car has his own little pains.

Faulty design ??? Yeah they do choke up if never driven in anger which is what they were designed for .

As for power figures its the same again as any performance car owner , they dream up figures , everywhere ive looked it states 420bhp .

The single most unreliable car my old man ever had. Left him with a very bitter taste.

Had it 8 months and was left with 4000Ł+ bills from Mrc on two occasions.

Was only making 320bhp when he first got it. Mrc sorted the top end and it made 415 with a remap.

Sounded lush though. Averaged 13-14 mpg though :/

Had mine for 8 months and loved every minute, my advice is scream it every where as its sounds awesome and doesn't make any difference to the useless mpg, always enjoyed leaving my small cul-de-sac at 5.30 am every day seeing the neighbours lights coming on whilst its on the cold start! (BTW my neighbours still miss the noise too!).

Keep a check on the rear tyre wear and swap at mid point to get the most from them as they are expensive and wear very quick, also brakes prefer to be stamped rather than dragged to heat up in my experience.

most of all enjoy it

Well so far ive found it to be easy to live with. Its bloody fast ,handles like its on train tracks and the noise it makes it just

It feels slower than the 3 door due to it being bigger but in reality I think its a lot faster .

I took my boy out and left the car without actually shitting myself that its not going to be there when I get back which was a huge weight off my mind .

And its also nice not getting the attention that the 3 door got , the photos etc in petrol garages I can just get on and do what I need to do .

Parts, after having a cossie the Audi parts online are on a par . yes some are shocking but go get a decent upgrade on the sierra and your be paying the same. Ive just ordered Black front and rear Audi badges Ł19.99 And a black RS4 badge is Ł8.99

All in all a really great car and a very nice place to be .

I really do love these cars matey. I heard something about when a shocker fails you have to change a pair or something like if thw osf shock fails you have to change the nsr????

I was behind a RS4 the other day and I turned my radio down and opened the window so I could listen to the V8.

I've had friends and parents dad's with these and seen waaaaaaaaay too many problems. They love a drink of oil too! And making low 300s on the dyno is hilarious but must be awful to live with if it's your own car.

However they look the tits. The bright blue or red look ace

Faulty shocks is common yes and you have to replace as a pair , but I would do this on any car ,a front koni failed on my 3 door and I changed both .

I wouldn't say that makes them unreliable , and as for oil (I owned a cossie)

So if a front shocker goes you have to replace the other front one and not the backs.

You can just fit coilovers which solves the Drc failure . Mine seems ok so im not in any rush as yet .

Nice car, they do sound great & a great package.

Driven the B7 Rs4 & a great place to be.

Not cheap to run, but performance comes at a cost.

Depends if you need to use the car everyday , I don't need to so its just a toy to me . Personally I don't think its to bad on fuel considering weight/power etc

I had one and it was 100% reliable, no drc issues, no carbon build up problems, didnt use oil. Like any car all you read on the net is about the common problems but in reality there not as bad as people assume and most likely happening on high mileage or neglected cars.

Saw you mentioned getting an exhaust for it, i would reccomend removing the centre silencer and getting an x pipe put in as they sound the same as an aftermarket system for a fraction of the cost, Ł200-Ł250 for an x pipe or Ł1500 for an aftermarket cat back. worth a read about exhaust options on the rs246 forum

Does this affect the S button at all as it opens the valves etc ?

No mate dosent affect it at all as its literally changing the middle box for straight through pipes basically and the valves are only in the tailpipes. Like i said i had it done on mine as i couldn't justify spendimg so much on an aftermarket cat back exhaust when there is no performance gain and it sounds very similar to doing the x pipe. Depends on your budget i guess but it was a no brainer for me. Lots of threads on the rs forum about it
