Well little bit of a productive day with the focus today;

Ditched the old discs and pads, replaced pads last year , but discs were fucked and giving quite a judder , no good when your "pressing on"

Went for a reccomendation by Jay [cheeRS mate ] and a few others suggesting Mintex M1144 pads , and some swirl grooved discs from carparts express Ł155 delivered

Yes I know the calipers are fookin mingin I will be painting them over the next coupla weeks , they ruin the car when its clean !

And a quick pic I took when I got in from work - sitting looking rather smug with itself and new Brakes

Next up : Calipers painted , Eibach Springs, & front polybushes when funds / time allow..... then further into the quest for more POWEERRR !!!

Just another boring little update from me !

Cheers people

If it starts to shake again when you brake then get your front bushes changed. I replaced my front discs and pads with OEM bought from a dealer and they started to warp within 1000 miles. Luckily I bought them from a main dealer and they replaced them (and fitted them for free) .
They warped yet again so I replaced the front bushes, then took it back to the main dealers and they replaced them yet again (couldn't believe they did to be honest but they put it down to a bad batch) and it's been fine ever since.

When I first got the car - the pads were nearly down to the metal mate - it made a horrible noise under hard braking , and I think this cooked and warped the discs hence giving me a judder - At the time I just put gen pads in , shouldve really replaced the discs too , but thought that would suffice until I got some uprated items.

There is no play in the bushes at the moment , although they are going the journey soon anyways for polybush items , It does have the annoying steering wheel judder at around 60-70 occasionaly , but it sits better at 80+

Thanks for the advice mate - yours looks schweeet !

Well havent been out in the focus much this week been commuting in the old smoker to work. Taking the focus tommorow , try and get them brakes nice and hot , they do seem to bite loads better than the standard ones even tho they are still virtually brand new ! , the only thing ive noticed is that when in traffic , or braking lightly to come to a stop, there noisy..... its like an auld leyland bus !

Well since the MOT & Discs & Pads I have only done a little bit running round in the ST , I car share for work so have been getting a lift a lot of the time, and used the old mans RS now and again, so the ST has been sitting a little bit reduntant...

So decided to pull my finger oot me hoop yesterday and get it jacked up ready to paint the calipers , just gonna do them simple black for the time being, with some new Pad clips on to replace the shabby looking rusty ones.

Gonna get some new wire brushes tommorow & hopefully start getting cracked on with it after work. Gonna give inside the arches & suspension components a good clean too, as its manky around that area !

Well "braved" the 27degree heat here in the north east today - and got the car back on its 4 wheels - finished painting the calipers thru the week , didnt bother removing them from the car, just a quick wire brushing and 2 coats of enamel caliper paint and theyve came up quite well [ big improvement to me anyways ]

With the car sitting around for a little while it was mingin , so decided to give it a quick wash & dry, and the interior a quick once over...., will hopefully get it polished/waxed tommorow

I must be mad!! Might squeeze some work in on the Cossie as well!!

Nah I just went for a recon one for the moment, if I break that one (which is as likely as night following day knowing me! ) then I'll fit the uprated ones!

I've got to actually get the fucker first though!! The courier company claimed they tried to deliver it twice (bollocks) and now I have to go and pick it up instead which they wanted to charge me for!! Good old City (shitty) Link!!!

If it was easy, it'd be boring!!

I was thinking about having a play with the Focus to get a bit more power of it but tbh I really need to get the Cossie finished off, I haven't driven it for 4 years!!! I think I'll finish the Cossie off first then start tweaking the ST.

And yes I think you're mad for wanting a saph!! Lol!

I honestly wish I'd never bought mine.

Well when the time comes , focuses are very easily played with ...., a remap changes the car instantly.

You will love your saph when you get the project finished mate altho fair play you have had a lot of shit with it !!

Loads of people who have saphs say im mental for wanting one .....

One day pal, one day ....... could do with an auld taxi to keep the focus company

I took my mates ST out the other week that's running just over 300 bhp and mine felt shit after!! Lol!

My biggest worry is getting the Cossie finished and hating the way it drives!! Lol!

It's getting hard to find a good one for reasonable money now mate

Your calipers look a lot better by the way!!

Aye mate they pull well. Mine is supposed to be around 270-280 but nothings ever been proven yet. I suppose it will drive quite differently to your focus but hey, they have thier own character do cossies ?

Aye sadly mate it will be a longggg time before I can have a saph - so hopefully theres some good ones left for sale !! ,

Cheers mate - it just improved the look behind the wheels , they looked shit before , and when the car was clean , kinda spoilt it !

Hope you get your ST sorted today.... enjoy your day off
