Default water in spark plug chambers on my escort>??

hi i have a 1993 xr3i 130 model.

i noticed my car was spluttering and thought it was one of the leads,

to my suprize i took the each lead out of the spark plug holes and theres water in 2 of the spark plug chambers>??

anyone know what causes this?

Could be something as innocent as water leaking through your bonnet
BUT
I would check your head gasket

Check for gunky mayonnaise around the oil filler cap and in your header tank... best to be safe than sorry .....

theres no gunky mayonnaise type stuff around the oil filler cap ?

any other ways to check or know if its the head gasket?

no what i might thibk it is is when it rains the water gets throught the bonnet vents. just trying to find a way to stop this from happerning.

i had the same problem on my escosrt cossie replica. had to make an ally plate the same shape as the vent to keep the water out.

check for coolant leaks around the 2 allen bolts in the water jacket other than that its been washed off and water has got past the leads
