Default Lockwood Dials

Hi Guys

I own a 97 1.6 zetec escort hand it has lockwood white dials fitted. They were in the car when I bought it, my question is do the lockwood dials slip over the top of the orignial dials or do they replace them

hi nick,
i own a 2000 reg escort and my dad used to have a 97 and 98 reg escort way back.the 97 reg was a cabaret model and came fitted with white dials from ford.
the 98 reg came with the usual foul dark dials(hate them)! if they are lockwood dials then they are stuck on to it.as far as i know, the gum they use is 3m stuff and very adhesive so good luck in trying to get them off.or you could always take the safe route and apply new dials over the existing lockwood ones.in my view its the easiest solution.hope that helps you a bit.

Hiya,

Not sure about the later escorts?? However ive fitted Lockwood kits to a MKIV Escort and Focus and both times i stripped the original dial off - had to cut them. If u were to put white dial over the originals u wouldne get any back light to the background area atall, im not sure if my mkV escort dials are back lite, or its just the red dash light on the out side.
