Sorry, a bit late on this thread, but I have driven all these cars and more in my last job of 8 years doing 2-3000 miles a week including testing for different prestige manufacturers before release, Audi R8, Jaguar XKRS, Porsche 911 Turbo, BMW M3 V8 (pre production) etc etc.
If hankering for a BMW the M6 is a far superior car to the M3, after thousands of miles in M3s, including all the special editions, I still hate the things with a passion. The C63AMG is a great all round high performance car that sounds infinitely better than any M3s dreadful raspy exhaust note (like Ferarri which are also highly over rated - Lambo's are a lot better). So... C63 is probably the best choice although if you want real performance, try the CL65AMG, 6.5 V12 Bi turbo, 740bhp standard 0-60 3.4sec. Just don't give it its head on a wet road. Fuel consumption over 3 months of driving on all types of road and nearly 30,000 miles averaged out at about 7.5mpg, but if you can afford £180,000 to buy it, you can afford to run it, fortunately for me, it was free as the company paid for it. The car they gave me after the CL65 was a Bentley Continental GTA. Mmmmmm still undecided about that one, worst sat nav ever fitted in a car.
After driving these types of car all week, at weekends they stayed on the drive and I drove and enjoyed a lot more my Ford Escort Mk4 1.3L Hatchback. Pure heaven!

Following on from this I picked up my 2010 C63 last week, very pleased with it, bought one with the Performance Pack Plus with LSD, engine output upgrade (SLS internals) etc etc. The thing does shift, even feels quicker than the SL55 it replaced!
Consumption wise on a normal 10+ miles run I get about 18-20mpg, on my 3 mile commute to the station I havent got it above 16mpg! Not as bad as I expected, the popping and banging on gearchange when accelerating hard is so addictive!!

Glad your happy with the C63, its a great car and one of the Mercs I enjoyed having for a few months, that exhaust note is so much better than the BMW M cars although the normal 650 Beemer does sound great but only at low revs with that lovely V10 burble.
The best sound though is still the CL 65 AMG, it certainly woke the neighbourhood up every morning. Enjoy !!!

Great cars and anyone that says it isn't a good gearbox amazes me as they are really good on these and very intuitive. I think that tiff needel saying it doesn't shift down quick enough didn't help but this is not a track car at all.

lol, exactly!
Gearbox wise it seems fine to me, I havent done a trackday for years so couldn't comment but on the road the gear changes are absolutely perfect!
Glenn - indeed the front wings are wider than a normal C Class to cater for the different front bumper width / lines. I have a normal C Class so will get a side by side shot to show the difference!

I have one mate, love it, I got Andy Gallacher to take me a run in his so I could see what they could really do. Needles to say I bought one soon after, I occasionally get the thoughts about selling it and buying a 911, m3, m5 etc but I take it for a quick spin and can't bring myself to do it. I love it. Will most likely have it for a good while longer. Only thing that annoys me is the wear on the drivers seat. Mine only has 13k on it and it is getting worn already! Getting a custom exhaust for it next and I'll take it down to Andys rolling road for a bit of fettling. He advised me not to bother with the performance pack.

On the gearbox side it's great on the road but when your on track it will eventually overheat and put you into limp mode until it cools down. I spent a day at Knockhill and by my 6 th session I could only get three laps out of it before it shut me down. I was also getting 5 mpg!
