Hi guys, I have removed the centre bolt from my steering wheel to remove it and the steering column has retracted right back into the cowling, has anybody had this problem or know how to get it back out? I really need this car for work tomorow so any help is much appreciated. Thanks

guess you need to reach underneath the dash ., near the pedals, the column is 2 or 3 sections of straight bar, with universal joints, similar to propshaft u.j`s, , if your strugglingto do it like that, screw the bolt in, wrap some wire around the bolt and pull towards yourself, there is probably a spring in the column tube, so a little resistance will be fealt when its where its gotta be, reach under the dash hold the column, fit steering wheel, hope you removed the battery earth , as the airbag is best reconnected without power,, i have never tried with power still connected, so you been warned,

This happened with my rs. I put the bolt back in and pulled it out. I then held it forward from inside the cowling. I then put the wheel back on. It's difficult on your own but easier, not easy but easier with 2.

normally happens when you forget to lock the steering adjustment arm or turn the key in the ign barrel, you should be able to pull it back through but to make life easier remove lower cowling etc
