Diskloks - what is the mod done to make this more secure
I have a disklok from my cossie days - however am about to lend it to a mate for his brand new golf r32 as it has attracted some unwanted attention.
I know there is a mod that can be done to these diskloks by welding a small plate somewhere so they cannot be forced open - does any one have any info on this?
I know there was a post about this a while ago.
Cheers in advance

Depends how much you don't want to get it nicked. How about taking the battery out or taking a alloy wheel off (leave one corner on bricks)?

WITHOUT lifting the car, isnt that blatantly obvious?
Your average car thief doesnt turn up in tesco carpark armed with a lifting device to take your car anyway

yet again you posting shite that you don't know about
when parking your car its best to park it front edge to something that dosn't move, leave the steering on full lock so if someone wants to lift it from the back it won't tow straight, therefore they will have to do a total lift or jack the front & use dollys, this will cost them more time & make more noise therefore putting a lot of 'thieves' off & they will look for an easier target.
its about making it as difficult as you can for someone to take your car, the more security you have the longer it will take them to steal it, an extra 60 seconds could be the difference between seeing your car drive off or chasing a thief away empty handed!

no mater what alarm you have on a cossie , using 2 pieces of wire i could have it running in about 1 minute . Its that easy , i had a clifford that went faulty on my 4x4 and i got it going in about a minute .

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
As car security improves they will do all they can to nick it, be it break in to a house for the keys, lift it on to a flatbed.
If they want it that much they'll have it.
A good alarm will have shock and tilt sensors but who takes any notice when its going off? I tried getting into the wifes focus with the spare key (long story) in a public carpark and the alarm went off, not one person batted an eyelid. All these things i use to try and deter the casual thief but there's not much you can do if they really want it.

BM08 you failed to grasp the point of my comment i wasnt commenting about hiabing a car, more about so called decent alarms
too many car alarms have a battery back up sounder under the bonnet that takes 2 seconds to rip off and 4 seconds to smash up on the ground. And anything that doesnt have a PATS system you just bypass the circuits that the alarm interrupts, usually fuel pump, starter circuit or ECU power relay or similar depending on car.
With pats if youve got the plug in device you can have it running on a new chip in a couple of minutes. Someone targetting a car will know what device they need, where the diagnostic port is etc etc etc.
All car security does is slow the thief down. You want to aim to slow them down enough so they wont take the risk. Even then if they REALLY want your car they'll car jack you or do a home invasion for the keys putting a knife to your wifes throat, then i garuntee youd hand keys over.

Do you know how many cars with 'decent' alarms have gone missing without the owners hearing a thing

R4N S S is the car parked on a drive that could have some bollards sunk into the ground? just a thought.
edit: seen your post, answers my question

its a shared drive between two houses so my mate will get gate up asap.
I also have a CCTV system sat at home unused so will give him that also
Funny thing is never went thru any of this hassle when I had the cossie - altho i live on a quieter road and had the car covered or blocked in 90% of the time.

its so sad we have to go to these lengths to protect our stuff from thieving cunts,
this world we live in
someone on here said about trying to protect you car is you risk you, and your family as they will break in instead,I sleep with my keys,if they want them they can come wake me up.Alarms do help, if u had 2 of the same car, one armed one not, its pretty obvious whats going missing!!
its only a deterrent, not a cure

I know what its like to have somebody wanting your car,but something like a new r32 is going to be stolen to order probably by a proffesional gang,i wouldnt like the idea of that sort of people wanting my car, they might come into the house and if they have the nerve to do that where would they stop.fit a decent alarm and make sure the insurance will pay out if it goes missing.leave it wherever you normally park it.if they want it that bad let them have it as its not worth getting stabbed over a car like you read so much of these days.its a sad fact that thats the soceity we live in these days.
