Inside Doorlever Breakage
Thought I'd share this. The doorlever broke some time ago, I decided to repair it this weekend.
This is for people who cannot source parts or with low funds and has a small drill. ie Dremmel hobby tool.
If your inside door lever breaks at the the top pin. Don't throw the part away. You can fix it.
Appolgies for bad quality pics. Phone pics at night.
Picture of RHS inside door lever assembly. The silver is the revelaed pin. What happend here, is that the plastic mounting where the pin sits had sheared off. The lever stayed open when opening the door no spring back action.
What I did was, I used a small precision drill and drilled 2 small holes at the back of the housing so I could thread a piece of copper wire through on either side making like a U-clamp around the pin. This should hold the pin in place, stop the lever from popping out and the lever should spring back when opening the door.
Tie the copper wire at the back of the housing. This will stiffen the "U-clamp" and presto problem solved. Don't tighten too much as you may stretch the copper wire or break the housing. Add a bit of lubricant for smooth operation.
I don't know how long it will last, but I'm going to find out.
I put the lever back with the cable installed last night. It seems to be working well now. Hope its the problem solved.
Cheers,
