Default Fans playing up????

My fans on the saff are playing up,when the car reaches the temp that the fans need to come on they just flick on for a couple of seconds and keep doing this all the time.Any ideas what the problem might be chaps????

Yes if you haven't rewired this is most likely the problem due to a bad connection, the loom on these was substandard when new, leave alone now. Also check the fuse in the fusebox, this may be at the point of melting causing an intermitent problem, again which is what they do due to the terrible fan switch Ford fitted to them keeping the fans on for such a long period!

You need to rewire, there is plenty of info on here regarding this and it really needs to be made a sticky in the room highlighting this issue as it's very important, also the fuel pump suffers from poor wiring whereby it builds resistance over time and so the pump cannot get the power it needs under load, so you can end up with a meltdown!

You need to check the power at the pump UNDER load and if not sufficent, you will need to rewire this circuit.

The fan switch may also be causing a problem but I very much doubt this as they are reliable, I put money on it being down to the wiring if it's still OE.

Thanks mate yes its still original,been looking at a new loom on ebay so maybe i will have to take the plunge and buy a new one.

Thought of that tabetha but i wouldnt know where to get the parts from to make the job right and would need a wiring diagram
