See if you have a yellow on the indicator relay, normal one not hazard one, unplug relay and see if this makes the yellow wire change from live to dead(ignition pos 2) at the swtich end, if it does this is the feed to the stalk from the indicator relay, they feed will be live all the time the ignition is on, the stalk merely diverts it and completes the circuit in doing so.

Relay behind the clocks/speedo/tacho, have you joined the yellow wire briefly to see what happens, what EXACTLY is clicking as if indicators are not working the relay will not click.

You will only get a single solid click/clunk as you press the stalk, and again when wheels pushes it off.
Dead easy to get clocks out, four screws, after taking wheel off, but can be done with wheel on, if taking off mark EXACT postion of wheel first on spline with TIP EX.
Prise out the dimmer and wiper delay switches from the clock surround, you will see, two screws in the upper inside part of the clock surround, and two more in the lower part, one will be hidden(left one) by a blanking bit just pull this out to expose the screw.
The clocks themselves are held by a further four screws take these out and pull the clocks towards you, press the raised section of the speedo cable to release in towards the cable itself, you will soon se how it's done.
Relay is attached to the metal work, you will soon see it.
