had same issue water was getting into the dizzy cap, replaced it for another new 1 and made sure when i refitted it i applied a small amount of vaseline around the base so it sealed it onto the distributor, never had an issue since

Mine doesn't even when I pressure wash the engine whilst running.
It is not the sealing of the dizzy cap that is the problem, it is the sudden cooling of the air inside the dizzy cap thaty causes condensation to form on the inside of the cap promoting misfires.
Mine does not do it now it has better breathing on the dizzy.
