if an engine runs the shells can the metal fileings get in this? and can they get in a new engine if it is fitted? someone told my mate not to use his after his engine rattled cos it would be full of bits of metal and if it was used on a new engine it would cause them to go into it

generally, most bearing material ends up either on the strainer or in the bottom of the sump.....but it is possible i guess that some bits get around the engine, but i've never seen it myself.....every engine i've seen with bearing swarf in the sump/strainer has had nothing get to the top end of the engine or elsewhere....

The filter should take care of it really
