Default Engine light and part id?

I've just had a look around the engine due to engine light being on on my st170 to see if I can see anything obvious. Car still seems to be running OK.

I saw this

Any ideas what it is and where it should go? Also, it is the cause of the engine light being on?

This has been asked loads of times on here lol. It's the under bonnet temperature sensor, is supposed to be clipped to the side of the battery box.

Wishful thinking from my part hoping I could just screw it in somewhere and solve the problem. Oh well, never mind.

Disconnected battery and light went off and hasn't come back on yet. Mind you it's only been on a 5 min drive!

Hope it stays off but will no doubt return at some point I'm sure.
