Default 1.8 tddi pump swap question

I am stripping my old 1.8 tddi for spares, I've got diesel pump off. Should I also save the ignition lock & key? If I did would this pump/key/lock fit another tddi without any re coding etc? Fire up and away I go?

Thanks, Dawson

you will need to remove the ecu as well, otherwise the pump will have to be initialised onto the new cars ecu. If you take the ecu, and put that onto the new car ,then just swap the ignition barrel, if you want to keep the key blades as well. It will then fire up no problem. I usually just remove the PCM (Pump Control Module) from the pump and the ecu, i dont bother with the ignition barrel as you can just swap the key blades and use the chipped fob from the old one, or swap the glass chips in the old non fob key to the new one

Forgot to add that you should make sure you have two keys programmed for the ecu otherwise you wont be able to program anymore keys for the immobiliser

Regarding the ignition barrel, I've taken the plastic piece from the opposite end of the key, is this all I need or do I need the metal key barrel part?

You will need the ignition barrel if you want to keep the key blades to work with the barrel, the plastic end cap isnt needed. The ignition barrel is easy to remove ,just put the key in the ignition and turn it then, if you have the plastic cover removed from around the barrel, you will see a small hole use a thin screw driver and push into the hole and pull on the key and the barrel will pull out
