Gym newbie! need some diet and routine help?
Had my first gym session yesterday and feeling it a little today but really enjoyed it!. At the moment been told to stick to the compound exercises as it is to benefit my rowing.
The routine i've had drawn up for me says to go for 10 reps then increase the weight each set and do less reps, is this a good plan? Ideally i would like to gain size and strength again for the rowing.
Also is it best to take a protein supplement before and after a work out? should i work my calorie intake etc out, and how do i do it? I think i would struggle keeping on top of my diet as i have little time to prepare stuff etc??
Cheers for any help!

Hi, re your workouts, if you're just starting out then starting with light weights and 10 reps, then heavier with less reps, will be fine.
As for protein, I'd take a protein shake before you workout, then another right after, the anabolic window is about the 1st hour after you workout, it's the best time to get your protein.
