Default 2005 Ford Fiesta - remote central locking not going into learning mode

Done loads of these before, but for some reason there's no chime/locks not cycling after cycling the ignition (tried 4, 6, 8 & 10 times - all no joy) - and remote is not being learned even after hitting buttons anyway? Checked C/L fuses, plugs on the GEM, 'door closed' sensors etc...

Any Ideas?

just giving this a Bump

All other electrics are ok and working as normal - so the GEM module seems okay.

Anyone have any ideas?

Stupid question, but are you sure it has the correct gem unit? Has the car always had remote central locking or are you trying to use a remote key for the first time?

It's a mk6 Fiesta, on a 55 plate, so it should have remote central locking.

The car just had a basic 'transit style' non remote key at first. All keys were lost, and only had these keys available at the time. So I made the basic key, with the intention of returning the next day to do the remote one.
Took the chip out the first key, put it in a new 3 button remote key - cut it to match etc.

Just when I do the ignition on/off bit - It's just not going into learning mode?

Put the reg into this http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do and it'll tell you if it came with central locking from the factory, then you'll know if it should be working or not. Hope this helps!

Just drop the gem unit down its only 2 screws and it tells you on it if it was just alarm or remote alarm.
