Ford Escort 1.8 Turbo Diesel - £400 ono
As the title people My daily hack is for sale as I will be getting a new motor in the next few days.
1999 1.8 TD Escunt, 165k miles (replacement engine at 90k according to previous owner). Uses no oil and starts first turn of the key.
Used to be a police car so the roof has holes for aerials and the like but has been covered (poorly) with a sheet of white vinyl to stop rain ingress.
CD/MP3/USB/SDcard head unit
Usual escort stuff - Power Steering, ABS, front electric windows, electric mirrors, central locking and front airbags
I fitted all new suspension dampers, front wishbones, droplinks trackrod ends, glow-plugs and brake pads/shoes for the last MOT and it passed with no problem at all.
I have done over 25k miles in the year I have owned it and it has never missed a beat - while running on 100% bio-diesel (changed filters every 10k). Regularly returns 550 miles to a tank (50 litres or 55 from empty) as I do a lot of motorway mileage.
Recent new heater fan motor and resister pack so all 3 heater speeds work as they should.
Recent oil service with new filter, 0-30w oil and new air filter (Cheap servicing at £25 from Halfords with trade card)
Decent tyres with plenty of tread left.
MOT untill July 24th and tax untill 30th June. 4 former keepers including myself. HPI clear (Not that it really matters on this banger )
Not the best looking car - plenty of scuffs on the bumpers and a dent on the passenger front wing. BUT it is solid where it matters - sills and chassis rails - These were given a coat of stone-chip and waxoyl last year and then renewed again in Feb after the snowy snap. The dashboard has screwholes all over where the police stuff was mounted too.
A few pics which I had on my photobucket (Will get new ones asap)
Roof before I put the vinyl on it:
The head unit in this picture was the one that came with the car - I have since fitted the one that will come with it.
For the money it is a bang on motor that you can dump anywhere without a care in the world - I don't even bother locking it as I care that little
