Toyo t1r's

Hi all ,

Anyone had toyo t1r tyres on there cars ?
Any good ?

Bailes1992 Feb 20, 2014 07:31 PM

Had them on my Mondeo for a short whole.
Very grippy in the dry. Useless in the wet and didn't last long at all!

bagginsRSturbo Feb 20, 2014 07:57 PM

Yokohama prada spec 2 are meant to be good there my next tire

studabear Feb 20, 2014 08:20 PM

going for toyo r1r's on my escort next, I have serious grip issues.

stevo123 Feb 20, 2014 08:28 PM

I have read people say they're not good in the wet and to be honest my experience of them has been great in the dry, very good in the wet but as said don't last too long. They're cheap enough so its swings n roundabouts really.

Straight_4_N/a Feb 20, 2014 08:49 PM

Cheap nasty tyre worse than r888s in the wet!
iirc there only £30 each in my size but you get what you pay for.

DAN400 Feb 20, 2014 09:22 PM

had them on the back of my saff,
fuckin shit ,
could nt wait to get them burnt of,
I ve a set of federal rsr 595 coming tomorrow,
I hope to god they re a lot better,
I was goin to try the toyo r1r s but thy did nt have my size

Oranoco Feb 20, 2014 09:23 PM

Ran several sets on my A4 on and off track. Lasted reasonably well, super dey grip, acceptable wet grip, slightly softer sidewalls than I would have really liked. Pretty sure they are a discontinued tyre now.

Robmatheson Feb 21, 2014 01:23 PM

I've had them a few of my cars, better than paradas IMO, Very good in the dry, still pretty good in the wet. Good value.

I suppose it all comes down to what you drive and how you drive.

It's Czech Mate Feb 21, 2014 01:42 PM

Used them in a mild power fwd car

Grippy in the dry, average in the wet

Soft sidewalls dont help with turn in or feel when pushing on

I only bought them once

Karlos G Feb 21, 2014 05:06 PM

Great for the money (this is key, as they are cheap), cannot be compared to tyres twice the price of course.

zippyobrien Feb 21, 2014 05:12 PM

I'd rate nangkan ns2 over t1rs. The single worst tire I've ever used. Paradas are ahit aswell. They over heat to easily then only fit for the bin.

T4onYB Feb 21, 2014 05:16 PM

Poor tyre the proxes 4 are better if wanting toyo

Nankang NS2 I found shocking, removed a set of almost new ones and threw them away they were that bad.

xr-stu Feb 21, 2014 08:45 PM

i rate them, theyre not the best tyre but in my eyes very good value for money. they grip really well in the dry in my experience, i drive like a priest in the wet so cant comment on that.

id sooner have slightly less grip and be able to push harder knowing i wasnt gonna need a loan when i need to replace them.

The Underdog Feb 21, 2014 09:10 PM

i see proxe 4s mentioned and federal rsr,s. i ran 1.7 secs quicker around llandow circuit on federals compare to the slower proxes4. proxes were ok but not in the same league as federal.

studabear Feb 21, 2014 09:16 PM

I thought federal was a turd make, the ones on the cars I mot look shocking, might have to have a look for rsr's

federal 595 rsr are the ones. they are a track /road tyre.

DAN400 Feb 21, 2014 11:21 PM

my fed 595 rsr s arrived today, must say they def look the good lol

Kam B Feb 22, 2014 06:14 AM

Had a full set on my frs mk1had really good grip. I don't drive fast in the wet but were okay. Tyre noise is low which I was happy with

I heard this also , I've been told they a very budget tyre

When I said to a tyre place who does track tyres they said
" I thought you had a cosworth not a Nissan micra !! :tiff:

The Underdog Feb 22, 2014 06:16 PM

i would say its near impossible to buy a tyre for the same money as a federal 595 rsr that could outgrip it.

its important to not confuse the the RPM with the RSR.

thats just ignorance not knowledge. if you tried the RSRs you would realise they are wrong

DAN400 Feb 22, 2014 07:01 PM

got mine fitted today, just about,
does anyone else with mo 5s have bother getting tyres on and off there rims??
the guy fitting the tyres today got them on and no more,
its always the same wherever I go:?

absolutely spot on, some peoples comments are ridiculous!!!!!! im reading this thread n laughing at some comments…..

they are a real good tire for money, great summer wheel, perfectly safe in the winter…. if your budget allows you to buy more expensive tyres then stop looking at T1R's, but if ur looking at khumo's lol then these are an emense step up for little extra cost. good tyre in my oppinion i have them on my estate, unfortunatly 195/45/14 arent the cheapest size but "funky tres" hooked me up off here for best price i could find ;0)

Oranoco Feb 23, 2014 05:51 PM

To be fair the Kumho KU37 is actually a decent tyre. After a bit of disbelief on my part but assurances that a lot of the guys on the M3Cutters forum rated them highly I threw a set of 4 on my A4 (thanks to a pothole incident :( ). Certainly a budget tyre that was a chunk less than the T1R's I had fitted before yet they have performed very well and even surprised me at just how grippy they were at Bedford for the odd dry laps and mostly monsoon ones.

Rogeyboy Feb 24, 2014 12:00 PM

Had 4/5 sets of T1Rs on my Orion now... I find them brilliant in the dry, good in the wet and they dont wear that badly. They are quite soft and reasonably quiet too!
Personally I'd avoid parada's, they are good in the dry but horrible in the wet.

Im going to try R1Rs next

Psycho Warren Mar 13, 2014 02:51 PM

Good all rounder in my experience. Although it seems to be a split between the size of the car. Lighter fwd cars seem to be great with T1R's so your fiestas, pumas, kas etc will find them great. But they dont seem to be that well suited to big heavy cars or RWD.

Who was talking about track tyres and sounds more like poor driving anyway lol

hitchwest Mar 13, 2014 09:16 PM

Very good tyres got them on my saff loads of grip and feel

STeve Mar 14, 2014 06:38 AM

I found T1s a nice looking tread pattern and grippy but very road noisy and totally crap in the wet
