Smile Will 18 225/45s clear my Focus TDCi arches?

Hi All

I'm a Focus (and Ford) newbie, having just picked up a mk2 2007 3 door TDCi (loving it so far). I've tried searching around the forum for info on my query, but have only found reference to wheel fitment rather than tyre profiles.

I'm looking to replace the standard 16" wheels (with 16/205/55 tyres) with the 18" 'snowflake' mk 2 ST wheels. I'm conscious that the suspension is standard so don't want to go too low profile on the tyres and increase the pressure on it - and I'm also keen to avoid a back breaking ride!

Does anyone know if 18/225/45s will have decent enough clearance, as I'm worried about them catching the arches when turning or when the suspension compresses?

Thanks very much for any help you can provide.

Mark

i think its more down to the offset of the wheel but if it came from the st model it should be fine mate

Thanks for the reply.

I assumed that the offset would be the same on both sets with them both being OEM Focus?

I'm just a bit worried because every set of 18s I've seen for a Focus so far has had 40 profiles rather than 45s and I'm wondering if there's a reason for that, other than for appearance.

Thanks again, Mark

They'll be fine.

Although when it comes to a tyre change i would go back to the standard 225/40/18 fitment
