you need to use a p8 ecu with a anti lag board i go mine frone engine advantages cost about £400
Also you need to get your ids valve and throttle body modified that costs about £100 but you looses your cold start fast idle so they run a bit shit when cold :)

Cheers, do u know were to get ids valve and T/B modified :top:

anyone know how to wire it up ??

i have a p8 loom with als on it, also have the inlet and throtle body from the car it came from, so i just need to find out where to put this wire with als on it

Dave Henshall 31-12-2005 01:54 PM

under teh bonnet the wiring remains the sme. the only additional wiring in teh car is a swicth input to one of the ecu pins that is usually not wired, this when grounded throug the switch , makes teh als active,

yes, then the throttle sensor needs to be set correctly for it to work and then you just switch it on and kick the throttle a small amount from idle

and what is the benefit?

Dave Henshall 01-01-2006 12:59 PM

if setup correctly, the car will idle making almost full boost, so the moment u touch the throttkle you have full boost without having to wait for the turbo to build up to speed and pressure. on cossies though its fairly primitive and retards the ignition lots , throws lots of fuel in and its actually fuelling and sparknig when the exhasut valves are open casuing the turbo to get hot,

without a proper turbo with the correct shaft etc, u will fook a good turbo in no time at all and overheat it. u really need a temp probe in teh exhaust to monitor the temps. its used on rally cars, but i myself was going to have it donw, but speaking to people who have had it, they find for normal road driving it doesnt make any real difference, and is only really any good for showing off and scaring grannies as it goes bang bang :)

no turbo lag as there is boost available from idle, hence the name anti-lag ;)

NICK K 03-01-2006 06:35 PM

Its only a mild set up only makes about 5 psi of boost i had a standard turbo and ut lasted for over a year. Its not as if anti lag is switched on all the time just when i want to have a bit of fun :)
It does make a differance can spin all 4 wheels from start ( not good for gearbox but it aint broke yet) and pulls better through gear change.
Engine advantages sell the boards and chip ( but your best of getting it mapped by them if your engine is modified) and if you send youf throttle body and idle valve they nod it for you and send it back in about 1/2 weeks
