Default Question about ST170 exhaust manifold.

Hi.

I was wondering if a ST170 exhaust manifold (aftermarked) fits on my mk1 Mondeo 2.0l zetec silvertop?
If not, what do I need to make this work or is there any aftermarked manifold that fit on this car without a lot of modifying?

Kindly regards Tom

Exhaust ports and mounting holes are the same for the blacktop silvertop and St170. The bowl for sump may be in a differant place though ?

Do your self a favour. Avoid the cheap stainless chinese eBay manifolds. The Oem 4-2-1 will be much better for fit and flow.

Ok. Do you think the oil sump and pickup from a ST170 fit on silvertop engine? And just to make sure, is it this type of manifold I should avoid buying?

In has been done but it’s not a straight swap. And yeh that’s the sort of exhaust I would swerve.

To fit a Blacktop two piece sump to a silvertop.

The main differance is the bearing caps and bolts. The silvertop has much thicker main bearing caps around 20mm. These hit the cast part of the blacktop sump. It’s a combined windage tray / block ladder and sump all in one.

To get to fit you have to grind away where it touches

this is is an st bottom end but it looks the same
