Default Sierra Cossie overheating

Hi,
New to this, but here goes. Got a track day Cossie that is overheating. Not pressurising just running hot after a few laps. The temp is showing hot at the rear of the head although the rest of the system is fairly normal. Fitted with new ally rad and header, new 4x4 thermostat housing, new stat 82degrees,new 4x4 water pump, new swirl pot, new Roose hoses, new sensors. Not got oil modine or heater, but have fitted Roose bypass hose from rear of head to stat housing. Readings from therm gun confirm what the temp in the dash is showing. Link ecu and dash2 pro fitted and set up by Norris. There is loads of flow from rear of head bypass hose when disconnected from stat housing. Have heard that a restrictor in that bypass hose is needed as there is no modine or heater in the system. Any help or advise would be really welcome. Thanks.

Well if everything is working as it should you need better or more heat exchangers to maintain stable temps.

What oil cooling do you have in place?
Are you using water cooling on the turbo? If so do you have a turbo cooler as these work well.

Couple of lads on here track their cossies and should be able to advise.

Check out this article on cooling.

Thanks Mat,
No oil cooling and no water cooling to turbo.
Most of the motor looks ok on temp apart from the rear of the head and as that's where the temp sender is it is showing high.
If the sender was somewhere else ( front of engine ) it would look like there wasn't a problem. Was thinking that as there isn't a modine or heater that the water is returning to the stat housing so quickly that it is stopping the cooler water from the rad. Or am I completely on the wrong track?

I don't know the answer mate.

For sure though a couple of hard laps and your oil temp will be through the roof without some form of oil cooling, 19 row mocal would do the trick.

Have you fitted the correct stat for the bypass stat housing

Pretty sure it will be right as stat came from Burton (Ł90) along with housing but will check dimensions.
Had the problem before we changed the stat housing, stat and pump.
On strip down before we changed all those components there was no stat fitted.
Has anyone heard about a restrictor in the modine/ heater bypass hose ?

Only fit a stock ford stat. The copies are not the same and run hot.

Thanks for the replies.
We changed all these parts because it was overheating before.
On strip down to change stat housing/stat/pump etc it was found not to be running a stat at all. Has anyone heard about running a restrictor in the modine/heater bypass hose to compensate for not running them.
