MK3 Escort - converting rs1800 to st170
Hi guys, quite new to this forum, I've got a mk3 escort with an rs1800 zetec fitted, however I want to swap it for an st170. It's currently running all the zetec ecu/fuel injection/loom etc.
I've been told it should just be a case of swapping the engines over? I'm aware that I have to buy an idler pulley and get the bracket that allows the waterpump to spin in the opposite way, and fit a CVH alternator, but what else is involved? Someone mentioned I should just keep my rs1800 inlet but have it port matched the st170 engine, no idea why they said that when surely I could just use the st item?
In terms of the loom, will everything connect up to the new engine as it currently does?
I apologise for all the quesiton, I'm usually a VW fan but Ive recently come to the 'dark side' as people keep putting it, so I'm still trying to familiarise myself with the whole zetec thing.
Thanks in advance
